New Inverness City Manager Eric Williams plans to build a better relationship with the Citrus County government as key issues have caused a rift between the two entities.

The county owned airport has been one bone of contention with issues concerning oversight of the hospital and the annexation of Inverness by the county, according to the Citrus County Chronicle.

Williams was named Inverness City Manager in January. He previously served as the assistant city manager for seven years.

In an interview the Chronicle editorial board, he called mending the city and county relationship, like "dating again."

Williams said recent business conducted by the two entities show that the relationship is on the mend. The county provided the city with an acre of land and the two agreed to a landfill agreement.
