City of Inverness issued the following announcement.
The Inverness City Council passed Resolution 2020-08, “encouraging individuals to wear face coverings in certain circumstances and matter related to the COVID-19 pandemic” on July 21, 2020.
This resolution is an effort to protect public health and ensure essential worker safety by encouraging face coverings and social distancing for widespread use throughout the City in keeping with State guidelines for preventative measures that will reduce risk to all.
The City supports of the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and public health officials. In a July 14, 2020 press release, CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield states, “Cloth face coverings are one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus – particularly when used universally within a community setting. All Americans have a responsibility to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.”
The Inverness City Council meets the first and third Tuesday of the month. Virtual meeting links will be provided on the City’s website Inverness-FL.gov prior to the meeting. The next meeting is Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.
