Inverness2

City of Inverness issued the following announcement.

The City of Inverness became the first parks in the county to install signs in Liberty Park, Wallace Brooks Park, Whispering Pines Park and Bryant Park discouraging smoking.

Inverness, FLA – In February of this year, Mike Wright of the Citrus County Chronicle, urged the Inverness City Council to discourage smoking in city parks. The City Council agreed this was an important message and encouraged City staff to look into the issue. The City of Inverness with the help of the Tobacco Free Partnership at the Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (FDOH Citrus), became the first parks in the county to install signs in Liberty Park, Wallace Brooks Park, Whispering Pines Park and Bryant Park discouraging smoking.

On August 6, 2020 the City Council with leadership from the City, FDOH Citrus, and Mr. Wright joined together to celebrate the installation of the new signs in front of Liberty Park’s new playground.
