CITY OF INVERNESS: 9-11 Freedom Walk set with modifications

City of Inverness issued the following announcement.

This year’s walk has been modified due to COVID-19 and recommends participants keep at least six feet away from members not in their household or group, and to please wear a mask during the walk.

The City of Inverness and Operation Welcome Home are moving forward with a scaled-back remembrance of the 9-11 attacks on Friday, September 11, 2020 with a short walk. This year’s walk has been modified due to COVID-19 and recommends participants keep at least six feet away from members not in their household or group, and to please wear a mask during the walk.

9/11 Freedom Walk

Friday, September 11, 2020

5:30 p.m.

Start at Wallace Brooks Park, 328 E. Dampier Street, walk to 9/11 Memorial located within Liberty Park, via the Withlacoochee Trail (0.5 miles)

Walkers are encouraged to dress patriotically and to bring any flags they wish to carry during the walk.

This walk will not feature local speakers, singers or the handout of flags for participants. The Valerie Theatre has also cancelled its 9/11 Exhibit in partnership with the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Law Enforcement Officers (NARLEO). Please follow all Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines at the walk.
