CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: CF and Ocala/Marion County Chamber and Economic Partnership to Support Minority Entrepreneurs

Result

Central Florida Community College issued the following announcement.

The College of Central Florida and the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership have joined forces to support minority entrepreneurs through the CEP Impact initiative in West Ocala, Marion Oaks and Silver Springs Shores. The specific cohort of individuals will participate in a four-class (12-credit) program between January and April 2021. Participants who complete all four courses will be awarded a College Credit Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the College of Central Florida and will be eligible to have that credit awarded toward an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration, if desired.

This specific cohort program will be tuition-free for individuals who participate through the Impact initiative, as a part of the CF’s Rapid Credentialing grant program. Other support may be available, such as a laptop loan. The cohort offering will likely be a mix of online or in-person classes at the CF Hampton Center, located at 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. The schedule will cater to working individuals.

“The CEP is delighted to collaborate with CF in a strategy to provide tuition-free Entrepreneurship Training,” said Cherrietta Prince, CEP director of Entrepreneurship Services. “This alliance between the college and CEP Impact Initiative is an outstanding opportunity for individuals to augment their business proficiency while receiving credits toward an academic degree.”

The business Entrepreneurship Certificate program has both credit and noncredit tracks. The program is designed for those who currently own a small business or rising venture and wish to enhance their skills, or for curious seekers who are interested in expanding their knowledge to start a business venture. Courses include Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship Opportunities, Small Business Management, and Principles of Marketing.
