St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge issued the following announcement.

Fall fun from St Marks National Wildlife Refuge

Note: Items may change depending on availability and staffing.  Virtual items will be posted on Facebook along with other Venues such as YouTube and Instagram when possible.

Sep. 26 - Nation Public Lands Day - "Community in the Wild"

Oct. NWR week: “LIVE YOUR WILD”

  • Oct. 11th: Solo social Sunday; virtual nature hike on cedar point trail.
  • Oct. 12th: Monday Miracles; Virtual painting class.
  • Oct. 13th: Thrilling Tuesday; Virtual nature adventure.
  • Oct. 14th: Wildlife Wednesday; Virtual Nature photo contest.
  • Oct. 15th: Throwback Thursday; Virtual tour of the St. Marks Lighthouse.
  • Oct. 16th: Friendship Friday; Special thank you tour Friends, volunteers and supporters.
  • Oct. 17th: Family Fun Day: scavenger hunt, sheets will be posted on our website and handed out at tollbooth.
“LIVE YOUR WILD” October 18th-31st

  • Oct. 18th: Learn about Milkweeds “virtually”
  • Oct. 19th: Virtual butterfly hike
  • Oct. 20th: Live Your Wild, Nature Journaling, pick up nature journals at St Marks, we will post dates and times.
  • Oct. 21st: FB challenge for a Butterfly scavenger hunt in your yard
  • Oct 22nd: Virtual Butterfly craft
  • Oct. 23rd: Nature Journaling. Sit in a quiet location and record the different kinds of pollinators you see
  • Oct 24th: Virtual Monarch tagging
  • Oct. 25th: Virtual Butterfly craft, we will post times on FB and Website when people can pick up materials.
  • Oct 26th: Virtual paint class
  • Oct 27th: Butterfly bingo
  • Oct 28th: Virtual Lighthouse adventure
  • Oct 29th: Bat craft, Balancing bat, materials can be picked up at the refuge, times will be posted
  • Oct 30th: Virtual Butterfly study with Emory University
  • Oct. 31st: Happy Birthday the refuge. Join us for a virtual bat activity
