UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA: UF ranks No. 4 nationwide for veterans

Awards

University of Florida issued the following announcement.

The University of Florida ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 4 nationwide in College Factual’s Best for Veterans raking. The ranking put UF in the top 1% of the country for veterans or active-duty military seeking a quality education. 

“UF has a strong commitment to veterans and their families and understands the value veterans bring to our campus community,” said Heather White, associate vice-president and university dean of students. “We have implemented a number of initiatives in the past several years to support our student veterans, and -- like with all of our students -- our goal is to make sure each person feels supported and is able to gain experiences at UF that will equip them for the rest of their lives.”

The universities ranked in the top three are George Mason University, Excelsior College, and Texas A&M University, respectively. The rankings were out of 2,104 schools and include a comprehensive list of metrics, including retention and graduation, student debt, average earnings, admissions and acceptance, location and online learning opportunities. Overall, UF was recognized as being a great value for the money.

UF offers a number of resources for veterans, including academic support, scholarships and work study opportunities. UF is 1 of 94 universities to host the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ VetSuccess on Campus Program, which serves as the on-campus face for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and assists with a variety of needs, including helping to navigate VA educational benefits as well as student veteran peer mentoring.
