Labor Day Weekend

Marcoisland

City of Marco Island recently issued the following announcement.

In anticipation of Labor Day weekend, the City of Marco Island is planning for increased visitors to the Island. The City has detailed plans to mitigate issues concerning traffic, trash, crowds on the beach, and excessive noise.

Parking: Vehicles must not block the road to wait for parking spaces. Some residential streets are marked indicating that parking in the swales is prohibited. Vehicles that are parked illegally will be ticketed and are subject to being towed.

Trash: Beaches are crowed on holiday weekends. We ask beachgoers to put trash in the receptacles or pack it up and take it when leaving the beach. The trash receptacles at the beach will be emptied twice on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday over the holiday weekend. Littering on the beach is a violation of the City’s code and is subject to a fine.

Beach conduct: The City reminds beachgoers to adhere to our beach conduct ordinances including the prohibition of dogs, bikes, glass, and fires on the beach. Sea Turtle nesting is currently active so please fill in holes in the sand to prevent turtle disorientation.

Noise: Marco Island noise ordinance will be enforced and there are no warnings given after 11:00pm. Any concerns related to noise should be reported to the Marco Island Police Department at 239-389-5050.

Please enjoy our beautiful Island and when you visit the beach, leave only footprints.
