The 18th Annual Falloween Picnic event, held on Friday, October 29, 2021 by Citrus County Community Centers staff was a huge success. People of all ages gathered at the
Central Citrus Community Center (located at 2804 W Marc Knighton Ct., Lecanto, FL) for games, music, and dancing. This long-running event was cancelled last year due to
COVID, so there was extra excitement for its return.
Live music was provided by Wes St. Onge (guitar and lead vocals), Sue Voesley (vocals), and Sally Smith Adams (keyboard), who played upbeat tunes to encourage the over 120
attendees to hit the dance floor. Zumba instructor Donna Scarpella, who teaches at the community center every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:00am, provided a
demonstration along with some of her regulars. Shoppers were welcomed into the Circle of Friends Gift Shop, where discounts were offered on an assortment of merchandise.
Citrus County Parks & Recreation staff even showed up for an unexpected song and dance interlude!
The highlight of the event was the costume contest. First, second, and third place awards were given for five categories: Prettiest Costume, Funniest Costume, Cutest Costume,
Scariest Costume, and Most Original Costume. Some of the standouts included a cupcake, police officer, ladybug, witch doctor, and “cereal” killer. All the participants were dressed
to the nines and put on a wonderful show. After the contest concluded, lunch was served by community center staff.
