Women’s Basketball Separates from Tallahassee in 77-62 Victory

Santa Fe College recently issued the following announcement.

 Santa Fe College Women's Basketball picked up their first true road win of the young season, turning the tide in the second half to best the Tallahassee Community College Eagles, 77-62.

The win was the Saints' fourth straight victory and helped SF improve to 5-3 in the nonconference slate.

First Quarter – TCC 20, SF 15

The Saints trailed by five at the end of the opening quarter.

Malea Brown had five points in the early going.  

Second Quarter – TCC 35, SF 29

In the second quarter, Kelli Cunningham found the mark with two three-pointers, but the Eagles outscored the Saints 15-14 in the frame to lead by six at halftime.

Third Quarter – SF 54, TCC 50

The Saints' offense came to life in the third quarter to flip the script.

SF outpaced the Eagles 25-15 in the quarter and were led by six points apiece from Taniah Bowers and Olivia Smith.

Fourth Quarter – SF 77, TCC 62

SF sealed the win with a dominant fourth quarter, led by Smith's seven points down the stretch.

Key Statistics (Unofficial)

Smith was key for SF with a season-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Aleisha Curry recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Brown notched 15 points to go along with a well-rounded effort in other categories, compiling five steals, five rebounds, and four assists.

Santa Fe (5-3, 0-0 Central) plays host to Indian River State College on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2:00 p.m. The Saints previously beat the Pioneers 68-54 on a neutral court on Nov. 5.
