Santa Fe College recently issued the following announcement.

No. 18 Santa Fe College Men's Basketball had a six-game winning streak come to an end at the State College of Florida on Saturday afternoon, as the Manatees pulled away in the second half to hand the Saints just their second loss of the season.

First Half – SF 44, SCF 42

The Saints fell into an early 10-2 hole, after the Manatees hit two early triples.

Trailing 14-8 with 15:06 on the clock, SF proceeded to go on a 19-3 run to turn the tide and seize a double-digit advantage, 27-17, with about eight minutes to play in the half.

Hasan Abdul-Hakim led the way with eight points during the stretch of play to help the Saints take control.

Santa Fe's lead grew to as large as 12, 32-20, after Bradley Douglas found a basket in the paint as the clock went under seven.

The Manatees began to chip away into the gap, however and outscored the Saints 22-8 in the remainder of the half.

SCF never led down the stretch but tied it at 42-42 with a triple in the final minute before Douglas' right baseline jumper with ten seconds on the clock proved to be the last bucket of the frame.

Second Half – SCF 99, SF 84

SCF took a 50-49 lead after a basket in the paint in the second half's early going.

The Saints formulated a 10-2 run to go in front 59-52, but the Manatees once again worked their way back into it to regain a lead at the half's midway point.

The game remained close and went back-and-forth all the way until the 5:14 mark, when after another deuce from Abdul-Hakim, the Manatees led by just one, 80-79.

The hosts closed out the game outpacing the Saints 19-5, using three triples and quality free-throw shooting to even the season-series at 1-1.

Key Statistics

The Saints were only able to play six players on the day, and despite what had been a gutsy effort all game long, SF didn't have enough left in the tank to claim the road victory down the stretch.

The Manatees deserved all the credit and did most of their damage from beyond the arc, sinking an impressive 16-of-33 from behind the line. SCF also went 17-of-22 from the charity stripe.

No. 18 Santa Fe, meanwhile, entering as the nation's leader in three-pointers made per game (11.0), went just 4-of-22 from deep but 16-of-19 from the free-throw line.

It was a clean game all around, with just 13 turnovers between the two teams. Second-half shooting was the most noticeable difference, as SCF went 17-of-32 (53.1 percent) compared to Santa Fe's 16-of-41 (39.0 percent).

Abdul-Hakim's 27 points, a new career-high, came on an efficient 11-of-18 from the field.

Douglas finished with 19 points and eight rebounds, extending his double-digit scoring streak to 19 games dating back to the 2020-21 season.

Brandon Farmer had 17 points and six rebounds, while Kordell Brown had his first double-double as a Saint with 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.

The No. 18 Saints (10-2) will travel to Florida Gateway on Tuesday, Dec. 14 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Timberwolves. The Saints won the previous matchup in Gainesville on Friday, Nov. 19 by a 100-47 score.
