Highlands Hammock State Park recently issued the following announcement.

FEES

Park entry fees apply:

  •  $6 per vehicle (up to eight people).
  • $4 single-occupant vehicle.
  • $2 bicyclists and pedestrians.
DESCRIPTION

Ranger Blake Lewis will lead a hike focusing on spring bird migration.

A variety of songbirds, water birds and raptors will be heading north while other species are now returning to Florida and their summer breeding range. Ranger Lewis will provide 

tips to beginning birders and intrigue advanced birders with observations of birds, reptiles and other wildlife gleaned from his years of experience in the park.

  • Dress for the weather and wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes, long pants and protective clothing. Bring water, sunscreen, insect repellent and snacks. Binoculars, bird guides and cameras are useful.
  • No dogs, please.
  • Registration is requested. Call 863-386-6094, ext. 0.
