SF Hosts Ethics Across The Curriculum Workshops

As part of Santa Fe College’s National Endowment for the Humanities Community College Initiatives grant, Engaging in Ethics, SF faculty in all disciplines are invited to participate in a key initiative, “Ethics Across the Curriculum.” The aim of this initiative is to infuse a bit of ethics into courses across disciplines at SF, engaging students in critical thinking about ethics issues that are relevant to their particular career interests/areas of study.

SF’s Instructional Designer, Dr. Jason Frank, along with Assistant Professor of Philosophy, Dr. Ronald Claypool will lead participants in a series of two workshops that will provide tips and tools for engaging your students in a class session that gamifies ethical reasoning in a fun, interactive way and gets them thinking about ethical issues in your discipline creatively and from multiple perspectives.

The first workshop will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Building P, Room 163. Lunch will be provided. The second follow-up workshop will be held in January (date TBD), when participants can share their model for a gamified ethics class session. Each faculty participant will receive a $500 stipend for their attendance at both workshops, as well as for providing a deliverable, which will take the form of a single class-session lesson plan.

If you would like to accept this invitation, please let Dr. Ann Thebaut, ann.thebaut@sfcollege.edu know before 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7.
