In the final nonconference game of the 2022-2023 season for Santa Fe College women's basketball, the Saints were In cruise control against visiting DME Academy in an 85-53 win.
SF raced out to a comfortable lead in the opening quarter and never looked back, snapping a six-game losing streak in the process.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints outscored DME 23-8 in the opening quarter and scored 20 of the game's first 24 points. SF pressured the ball well and forced several DME turnovers, leading to quick baskets in transition.
The score at the half was 43-20. SF outrebounded DME 30-17 in the first 20 minutes of play, and forced 14 turnovers.
The SF lead swelled to as large as 45 points towards the conclusion of the third quarter, and the hosts went on for the 32-point win.
KEY STATISTICS
Santa Fe's 47.1 percent shooting on 32-of-68 was a new season-best mark.
The rebounding margin was 48-41 in favor of the Saints, and 16 of DME's 27 turnovers in the contest were caused by SF steals.
Every player who took the floor ended up in the box score in some form or fashion.
Malea Brown was the game's high scorer with 18 points to go along with five assists and four steals.
Joey Delancy stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Isabella Reynolds was the third Saint to reach double-digits, contributing ten points and a team-high eight rebounds.
