Williston Care Center and Rehab earned a 2 out of 5 overall rating in the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported. This falls short of Florida’s statewide nursing home average rating of 3.3.
The center provided care in 120 available beds, which is two fewer than the state average for Florida nursing homes in the same period. An average of 111.3 residents received care at the facility during that time.
In the first quarter of 2026, Williston Care Center and Rehab accrued $15,593 in fines across two incidents and faced two penalties.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates show that the nation’s older adult population continues to rise while numbers for younger age groups fall. From 2020 to 2024, the count of Americans 65 and over grew by 13%, compared with a 1.7% decrease among those under 18. Across the previous century, the country’s older adult population has surged, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 analysis indicates nearly half of this demographic, approximately 28 million individuals, are likely to need long-term support services. The report also projects that more than one-third will ultimately require nursing facility care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
