Whether you have great internet, poor internet, or none at all, Citrus County needs your input. The State of Florida is trying to get adequate broadband internet to all communities that need it. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) has created and funded the Office of Broadband to identify under-served areas in the State of Florida.
The office works with local government agencies like Citrus County to increase the availability and effectiveness of broadband internet throughout the state, especially in small and rural communities. Through these partnerships, the Office of Broadband will provide grant funding that focuses on the expansion of broadband internet.
As part of the process, Citrus County has created a Local Technology Planning Team (LTPT) to collect information about the community and local businesses to see what resources are available now and what is needed for the future. The LTPT is seeking responses to surveys required for obtaining grant funding.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the effort to identify the broadband internet needs in Citrus County by completing this Community Broadband Survey. Business owner/operators should complete the Business Survey.
